Mary's Tears - 4 panels 24 x 24 each - oil on canvas
Mary’s Tears was originally intended as four separate paintings, but grew together as a cohesive series meant to be viewed as a visual symphony. It was one of my first works in which expressive color burst into the very graphic style I was pursuing at the time. As such, it was very experimental and I was surprised at the unity and depth of emotion that came out of it. As pure abstraction, the colors and shapes glow and float in an ever-changing reflection of powerful energies and spiritual light. At once cosmological and biological, through its sequence and internal logic it nevertheless seems to ring with a poignancy that is truly human.
