Gary Jacobs Pre-Dawn Sun

Pre-Dawn Sun - 48 x 60 - oil on canvas

Pre-Dawn Sun is meant to be suggestive in a similar way as the Dark Side of the Moon record album.  Here, a large yellow disk seems to shine through dislocated realms and fractured mediums while the whole composition has a heavy, machine-like quality.  Like Mary’s Tears, though, this piece is as much biological in feel as it is cosmological.  Actually one of my older paintings, it started as a pure abstraction of flat color areas divided by black lines, and evolved over the years with my style as additional color and the realist elements were added according to what seemed necessary.
