Jacob and God - 60 x 48 - oil on canvas

Jacob and God has a Pop song quality in that it’s fairly simple yet still seems to work.  As a friend maybe more aptly named it Double Self-Portrait, it is really about the demands we make on ourselves.  It’s not about damnation, but rather about the crushing weight our roles and responsibilities may have on us.  The ironic thing about the subject is that we can all relate to the pain being inflicted, but at worst it is only caused by words, gestures, or thoughts.
