Karma Cow was done for CowParade NY, 2000, and was integral to my development at the time. The design was a direct interpretation of other abstract works I’d done based on a strong diagonal, here running from the back, left leg over the back to the front right. Other strong similarities are shared with Pre-Dawn Sun. This piece was also influential in encouraging my complex, looser coloring in my paintings as I discovered it would have probably been easier than the perfect execution I pursued here in the tough, acrylic paint I was required to use.
